Would you like that extra zing in your salad? This attractive tree has dark, glossy leaves and will provide fresh fruit over a long season. Tahitian or Key limes are easy to grow in a sunny aspect and should be sheltered from strong wind. Either plant in a tub or in the garden. Limes are loaded with Vitamin C and are perfect for use in salad dressings, marinades, with seafood or sliced in a Gin and Tonic.
They can be used as a mixer for drinks, in dressings and as a garnish due to their seedless flesh and because they’re very juicy but not intensely fragrant. Tip: Before using limes, place them in hot water for a few minutes to assist in the release of oil from the skin making them more fragrant.
This plant comes in gift box and includes a gift card personalised with your message.
Is a Lime Tree easy to care for?
Lime trees are relatively easy to care for. With a good sunny position and regular watering, they will start producing tangy fruit very fast.
How much light does a Lime Tree need?
Lime Trees absolutely thrive in the sun, so the more the better. Ideally, they should be placed in a location that gets all day sun, rotating occasionally for even growth.
Is a Lime Tree safe for pets?
Similar to all citrus fruits, you should not let pets eat the leaves or fruit skin.
Does a Lime Tree need warmth/humidity?
Normal outdoor New Zealand conditions are sufficient, especially with good airflow. When the plant is just getting established, some care may need to be taken to protect from frost.
How often should I water a Lime Tree?
During growing season, Lime trees prefer consistently moist soil. When the top few centimetres of soil feels dry, water so that the moisture can reach the deepest roots.
